I’ve lived in Europe and in multiple cities across India, to the extent that this shit happens in Ggn, itna kahin bhi nahi hota. Physical infrastructure bana li hai lekin chutiyon ne ye nahi socha ki road and transportation infrastructure utni hi zaruri hai.

Ngl, i come from a privileged family so I don’t even have to step out of my house for anything at all, but I feel really bad for my colleagues and friends who have to wade through these shitty waters just to get on with their day, not everyone can afford to stay home just because baarish hui hai and gaadi kharab ho jayegi.

Karma it is.. We encroach every inch of land in front of house leaving no soil/sand to absorb the extra water during these situation. No water drainage system will be able to take this much water without this small solution. I have lived in multiple small and big cities, bangalore, Gurgaon, Delhi, jaipur and ahmedabad. In all I have seen this as a differentiator. Next time see impact of this in different areas of Gurgaon too. I live in Gurgaon too but max it takes one night to clear the water logged in our area (worst case) otherwise it clears in 2 3 hours

What you are saying is absolutely true. But, if without the large scale development, the city is facing so much pollution and traffic related issues, it would literally crumble if it went the Gurgaon or Noida way. The NCR region was actually conceptualized to reduce the pressure on Delhi's urban infrastructure. Even with all the development, Noida and Gurgaon will always be known as the offshoot of Delhi.

I don't think you know about the DDA Act of 1957? The whole point of that act was to take control of the real estate development in Delhi (under DDA) and banning all sorts of construction by private players under Delhi's territory. The reason being the preservation of Delhi's old architecture, which poses threats from such private entities. 

And this is what exactly led to the creation of a private real estate corporation by the name of Delhi Land and Finance (DLF), which then took over the responsibility to develop a village located in the southern outskirts of Delhi, to be acting as its satellite city, which we now know as Gurugram. So yeah, this is not really a "lost battle", it's just a seven decades old planned act, working as it's supposed to be.

To be honest, that floor-wise selling system has destroyed Delhi... A lot of people from outside are moving to Delhi because those old DDA flats etc., are cheaper, as people are constructing 2-3 floors and selling them for as cheap as 25 to 30L. and even rent is as low as 7k.

Imagine a place that was originally designed for 5 families and now there are 15 families are living in the same area.. And if you move to MIG or HIG flats, there's no specific parking space and there's constant flights for parking. No matter if you pay 1 cr for a flat and you still don't get a proper parking space. And that's the same reason i moved out from delhi.

Delhi is still much better than any of Gurgaon or Noida. 

You have lesser traffic, cheaper housing, cheaper basically everything. Plus you can get amazing food with a huge variety for cheap plus each corner has amazing metro connectivity. People everywhere are socially more open. 

Regarding the issue of companies not opening offices here it's better that they didn't because where would you provide them with such huge pieces of land for cheap. The places which have land available these days are areas like Narela, Najafgarh, Bawana.

 Compared to these Gurgaon and Noida are better accessible and connected. Plus if Delhi had corporates then it wouldn't have had everything so cheaper and all streets would have been full of traffic each day to extent you can't even imagine. 

If you have been to Bangalore your post is equivalent to why all tech areas and Corporate parks are on ORR or Electronic city or whitefield instead of say Jaynagar, Malleshwaram, Chickpet, JP Nagar, Banshnkari. Honestly speaking people in such areas are the most fortunate as corporates are not there.

Let me paint you a picture: 

Mumbai is extremely expensive, extremely inaccessible and the high rise posh area with MNC is just 10% of it. It’s all Chawls &amp; Slum with two extremes of economy. And they have floods faster than Delhi will ever experience. Bangalore suffers from waterlogging, extremely racist society and expensive infrastructure. Everything from rent to electricity is expensive. Hyderabad is still developing having political &amp; religious bouts every other day. Racism &amp; discrimination exist here as well against North Indians especially Delhi. Noida has problems of hard water, they’ve infra but without quality, they’ve literally one mall “DLF mall of india” and everything is inaccessible even with the metro. The whole sector 40-44-46 sector is disconnected to the metro, and Greater Noida is all pollution, noise and construction. Gurugram isn’t just Cyberhub or MG Road or HUDA, go beyond towards Sukhrali, Jharsa, Sector 15, Sector 14, Purana Bus Adda, Sohna Road… it’s literal village and forests. Again, rental is expensive, waterlogging issue is so bad that in 2 hours of rainfall, you’ve floods. U-Block the most demanding area for employees is a literal hell hole with extremely expensive electricity &amp; rent. While Delhi isn’t developing because it doesn’t need to. It’s already self sufficient as it is. We do have problems but not as extreme or wild as other city. MNC or new development means migration of people other city, you don’t have housing for the poor living from last 50 years, where would you accommodate the new population. While the advertising is part of politics, and you do in other city to build your base where you see your future. AAP is a national party which is already in HP, UP, Haryana, Punjab, UK and Goa and looking to expand regularly.

Kejriwal has been the worst thing to happen to Delhi, I’ve seen the city deteriorate and become a gutter in front of my eyes in the last 7-8 years. Nothing is clean; roads are dirty, it literally looks like a shithole. When he’s questioned, he blames the Centre. In my colony, people hate the Supreme Leader and vote for Kejri to symbolise their anti BJP stance, which of course I get (choice between two evils), but I fail to understand why the same people refuse to see what this guy has done to this city. He’s also from Ghaziabad, he has zero relation or any connection to this city, he doesn’t give a damn and it angers me that every day I think of moving from a city I grew up in, because it’s become unliveable.

It was designed to be like this, as the city(NCR) grows the better housing is at the outskirts of the area. It has more area and is cheaper. Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad first saw growth because of delhi. Now as time passes due to everything being relatively cheaper offices and housing is slowly moving to these cities.

You’re absolutely right. Most of the replies in this thread are screwed up. Which is an evidence of how Indians lap up all kinds of socialist nonsense and population related arguments to their own detriment.
The very concept of a city is to have a high density region where trade, commerce, social interactions become frictionless through reduced search and discovery. High density and concentration has huge economic and social feedback loops making good cities powerhouses of an entire country. 
Now since land is a scarce commodity, the only way to have high density is to build vertically and to allow free markets in real estate to function.
Delhi with it’s DDA Act did precisely the opposite, during India’s socialistic heydays. Even today, Indian cities have the worst Floor-to-Area Ratios making Indian cities spread out radially and horizontally rather than vertically. 
This leads to huge cities with huge travel times, traffic, friction-full trade and commerce and broken social infrastructure. The very opposite of what a city is supposed to do. 
The very people arguing against free market led real estate development on this thread will be dazzled with international cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai etc. which have more population and comparable or lesser area than Delhi. 
If one wants acres of green land, pristine clean air, no cars and traffic, they should go live in farms and not cities.

And that is why NCT was conceptualised. Welcome to 21st century. Delhi is an administrative and culture centre. Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Faridabad are where industries and corporates are. The reason being ample space to build new infrastructure and more favourable labour laws in UP and Haryana. Delhi is one of the oldest cities in the world, it will become an urban nightmare if they started reconstructing old neighbourhoods as was seen during the buildup to the 2010 Games. 

And as far as schools and education is concerned, Delhi in the past seven years has revamped their public school infrastructure. In another 10 years, the idea is to discourage people from getting into a rat race to get admissions in private schools by steadily improving the performance of government schools. I highly recommend reading the 10 point agenda released by Aatishi Marlena a few years back with a broader vision to implement it in its entirety by 2030. It could be farfetched but the progress so far seems alright. It can be better but I reckon if anything Delhi needs less infra development now. It needs better preventive maintenance and some stricter motor vehicle laws.

Though the entire point of Gurgaon is to exist as a satellite city for Delhi. What's happening in Gurgaon cannot happen in Delhi cause of lack of space. And if you have money, QoL is decent in Gurgaon. Less congested and infra is able to keep up with the population.

There isn't really a battle between Delhi and Gurgaon. The entire NCR region is meant to be a support system for each other. 

Delhi doesn't have the space to grow unlike Gurgaon and Noida.
